Police at the Busia border on Thursday discovered a human skull inside a Nairobi-bound passenger bus.
According to media reports, the bus, Trinity Express, a Kigali-based bus company was headed for Nairobi from Rwanda.
It was stopped at the Busia border for a routine check before a human skull was discovered inside, neatly packed as a parcel.
The bus driver and conductor were interrogated and taken to Busia Police Station to record a statement before being allowed to proceed with their journey.
The skull was left at the police station pending investigation.

Residents who rushed to the scene following the discovery narrated the bizarre incident, urging police to investigate the matter and arrest anyone found in dirty business involving human orrgans.
“The skull was well-packed and at first you would have thought it was a parcel. Killing a fellow human being is unacceptable,” one resident said.
“There is a possibility that some people in Busia or the surrounding regions are engaging in such dirty businesses. Security agencies should crack the whip and prosecute those who will be found guilty,” another Busia resident said.
This comes at a time when the country is experiencing a sharp rise in cases of murder and manslaughter primarily on women.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat, over 97 women were murdered in the three months ending October 30, with the cases pending in courts.
“About 90 percent of femicide cases have been thoroughly investigated, resulting in the arrest of suspects, with these cases now pending in courts,” he said.
The recent case was reported last month where a badly mutilated body was found dumped at the Langata cemetery in Nairobi.
The boiled bones of a woman are being subjected to forensic analysis to ascertain the identity of the victim.
