Learn how to raise capital from the diaspora

How to raise capital from the diaspora: The African Investor Masterclass (AIM) will tomorrow hold a training event on how entrepreneurs can raise business capital from the diaspora.

This is the latest in a series of business and investment training seminars that the investment masterclass has been holding. The series is the brainchild of entrepreneur Steve Odhiambo. Currently, he’s the Founder and CEO of ukowapi , a location based services provider, as well as the Co-founder and CEO of QoL-MA , a last-mile healthcare delivery provider, both of which arw based in Germany.

Mr. Odhiambo has successfully raised over € 200,000 worth of seed-funding for both businesses. He is also a recipient of the Galileo Masters Award by the European Space Agency.

The investors forum follows similar successful events that have been held in Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland.

“This is a premium networking event that connects business leaders in Africa with their counterparts in the diaspora, to facilitate joint-ventures and business/ investment opportunities,” says Mr. Odhiambo. “We’re helping your African startup or SME to close the funding gap ($ 50,000 – $ 250,000) by enabling you to access much needed capital from Africans in the diaspora.”

Among the key speakers at the event which has also been sponsored by Bizna Kenya will be the Bizna Group chief executive officer, Tonnie Mello. Mr. Mello is an established fourth generation entrepreneur.

“People invest in people they trust. People trust people who look like them.” The number of local investors in Africa is still very low, while the majority of angel investors and venture capitalists are foreign. The only sustainable way to increase access to capital is to increase the number of local and diaspora investors,” says Steve.

At investment masterclass you’ll learn:

Fundraising: how to raise capital from the diaspora. Fund your business growth and take your startup to the next level.

Investment: how to make your startup Investor-Ready. What Africans in the diaspora look for when investing in a business.

Market Entry: how to access the EU market. Form strategic partnerships, joint-ventures or even register a subsidiary with a virtual office in the EU.

Bonus: get a chance to join The African Investor.CLUB – an exclusive global network of African business leaders and investors.
