Blame yourselves for the mess in your city, UN Trade chief tells Nairobians

United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) secretary-general Mukhisa Kituyi has told off Nairobi residents for the mess and dirt that has clogged the country’s capital city.

While speaking on the JKL Live Show that is hosted by Jeff Koinange, Dr. Kituyi said he would have preferred former Gatanga MP to be the city Governor instead of Mike Sonko. He added that the incapacitate Sonko took the top seat in the capital, thanks to Kenyans’ “political irrationality”.

“It is not up to me to tell the people of Nairobi who they should have, but I have stated my position before election,” Dr Kituyi told JKL show on Citizen TV.

“I thought Peter Kenneth was very good to be governor for Nairobi and nothing has happened since the election period that has proven me wrong.”

The former Trade minister reprimanded Nairobians for decrying the city’s current situation and yet they voted for Mr Mike Sonko in big numbers.

“You listen to Nairobi people you would not believe these are the people who voted for Sonko. Where were they during the elections? They were in polling booths,” he said.
