President Ruto, first lady Rachel inspect abundant Narok farm after heavy rains

Co-Op post

President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto were recently captured in a viral video strolling through their lush farm in Narok, Kilgoris over the weekend. They visited to check on its state of affairs and plant some trees.

State House’s Dennis Itumbi shared photos of President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto enjoying a leisurely stroll on their Narok farm, Kilgoris.

They seemed to be taking a break from their diplomatic duties, walking through the greenery, and chatting with farm workers.

“President William Samoei Ruto and First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto passed by the farms to plant a few trees and inspect the farm, just like any other farmers whose crops need close attention due to the increased rains,” he captioned on his post.

President William Ruto demonstrated his hands-on approach to farming over the weekend as he inspected the wheatgrass on his Trans-Mara farm and checked on its growth conditions.

The bountiful harvest on President Ruto’s farm could be attributed to the recent heavy rains across the country. While many farmers continue to count losses, some including the president, may see profits.

President Ruto is well known for his farming exploits. Many are familiar with his humble background as a roadside chicken seller to now the Head of State.

In addition to the Trans Mara farm, President William Ruto also owns the Kisima farm in Taita Taveta county. This 1,000-acre property in Mata ward was acquired from former Taita Taveta MP Basil Criticos in 2017.

President Ruto also has a farm in Koelel, Uasin Gishu County. In April 2024, he went to the farm after going to church in Eldoret. Pictures shared by the State House media department showed him holding fertilizers.

He previously announced a plan to reduce imports and increase domestic food production.

“Because I know when God promises to give us rain in the season it means that we should use that rain to feed ourselves and to reduce what we import from other countries,” he said.
