KRA announces auction of laptops, iPhones for as low as Sh2,000; How to bid

The Kenya  Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced an auction for several electronics including mobile phones and laptops.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 17, KRA said among the items listed for disposal are mobile phones such as Samsung and iPhones which will be sold for between Sh2,900 to Sh50,000.

On the other hand, the authority is seeking to dispose of most of the laptops for between Sh100,000 to Sh120,000. Other items that have been listed for auction include shirts, shoes and other personal effects.

According to the taxman,  the excise would begin on the date of the announcement and end on Friday, September 20 at 8:55 am.

Kenyans who are interested in purchasing the items listed for auction were advised to visit the KRA auction platform – https://ibid.kra.go.ke.

The requirements for bidding include a KRA PIN and an iTax password which are used as the login credentials.

“Online auction is live! Place your bid by simply logging in with your KRA PIN and iTax password on the auction platform,” read the statement in part.

Once logged in, an individual can choose the item they would love to purchase and place their bid.
