Co-Op post

Safaricom has officially flagged off the Western regional finals games of the Chapa Dimba football tournament with a series of community engagement drives geared towards transforming the lives of Western Kenya residents.

Safaricom will conduct a free medical camp, digital and financial literary training seminars, Campus Tours dubbed ‘Safaricom Engineering Community Campus Tours’, safety camps, and players and coaches clinics, among other activities. These will culminate in the regional finals matches scheduled for the weekend of 26th and 27th August 2023

“Leading up to the Safaricom Chapa Dimba regional finals, we have planned two weeks filled with community engagement activities in health, education, economic empowerment and sports in this region. Safaricom Foundation places a significant emphasis on healthcare, with a primary objective to enhance the health and well-being of vulnerable Kenyans. In conjunction with Zuri Health, we will facilitate complimentary medical check-ups to benefit the people of Kakamega and the wider Western region.  Besides competition and talent development, this season of the tournament is also very much focused on community engagement – which includes medical camps, financial literacy training, and Safaricom Engineering Community Campus Tours, among others,”

The training is geared towards providing tips that can teach a saving culture and enhance credit and investment readiness.

The tour will serve as a platform to demonstrate the profound impact of Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and leveraging the power of online media to grow a career in the tech space and earn a decent livelihood.

The community engagements will then build up to the Safaricom Chapa Dimba regional final matches that will be played at Bukhungu Stadium, where eight teams, comprising of both boys and girls from the four counties – Busia, Bungoma, Kakamega, and Vihiga will participate.
