Members of Urithi Premier Sacco will benefit from medical insurance at discounted rates from Britam Micro Insurance following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.
Under the partnership, the over 6,000 members of the Sacco will benefit from inpatient, accidental death cover, accidental, total permanent disability and an inbuilt last expense cover offered under the micro insurance Sacco Solutions Cover known as Uri- Afya. The product targets Saccos and can be customized to fit the specific needs of individual companies.
Britam Micro Insurance Manager James Irungu said Britam was well placed to add value to members of the Sacco by offering competitive rates from the company’s expansive products across various business lines including, Insurance, Asset Management and property among others.
He said the new cover would give Sacco members the confidence to take loans in the future, knowing that their financial position would not be affected in case of costly medical emergencies.
Urithi Premier Sacco Chairman Pius Thuku noted that the arrangement was in line with the institution’s focus to improve the welfare of members, and to support them in good and bad times.
“We want to ensure that the members are protected when they fall sick and are unable to service their loans due to medical emergencies that end up costing a lot of money,” He said.
Urithi Premier Sacco Society was founded by Urithi Housing Cooperative Society limited to assist Kenyans access affordable and reliable credit facilities, and in addition nurture a savings culture.
The membership is made up of self-help groups; community based organizations, companies as well as individuals.
